Lock Installation & Repair
A deadbolt is only as strong as the two screws holding the strike plate to the door frame — and from the factory those are often three-quarter-inch screws biting into nothing but the jamb trim.
I install and repair locksets, deadbolts and smart locks, and I fix the parts nobody thinks about: the strike plate, the reinforcement, the alignment of a door that has dropped and no longer latches without a shove.

Three-inch screws are the cheapest security upgrade there is
Most forced entries are a kick against the door near the lock. The failure point is almost never the deadbolt — it’s the jamb splitting where short screws hold the strike plate. Swapping those for 3-inch screws that reach the structural stud behind the jamb costs almost nothing and transforms how much force the door will take. I do it as standard.
Smart locks in the Florida climate
Salt air and humidity are hard on exterior hardware. Anything on an exposed door wants a finish rated for coastal conditions, and battery contacts want checking annually. Keypad models generally outlast fingerprint readers outdoors here.
Doors that won’t latch
When a door suddenly needs a shoulder to close, the usual cause is settlement or humidity swelling and the fix is a hinge shim or a strike plate moved by an eighth of an inch — not a new door. I’ll diagnose it properly before anyone starts talking about replacement.

Can you rekey my locks so they all use one key?
For most common brands, yes, using the manufacturer rekeying kit. If your hardware is high-security or restricted-keyway, that needs a locksmith with the right blanks.

That’s an emergency locksmith call, not me — I’m not a lockout service. Call a licensed locksmith and I’ll happily fix or upgrade the hardware afterwards.
Which smart lock is best?
Pick for the ecosystem you use and whether you want a keyway as backup. Keypad-plus-key models are the most trouble-free choice in this climate.
